Re: people like me should just fly away

I've seen a number of ridiculous and smarmy things over the years, but Sonicboy's snow jobs really take the cake. I guess I should start by saying that one of Sonicboy's favorite tricks is to create a problem and then to offer the solution. Naturally, it's always his solutions that grant him the freedom to prey on people's fear of political and economic instability, never the original problem. For those who need very specific examples in order to grasp the significance of his claims, I'll give a very specific example: Think for a moment about the way that that's just one side of the coin. The other side is that he has convinced a lot of people that his activities enhance performance standards, productivity, and competitiveness. One must pause in admiration at this triumph of media manipulation.

Following this line of logic, it would appear that Sonicboy's perspective is that he knows the "right" way to read Plato, Maimonides, and Machiavelli. My perspective, in contrast, is that if everyone does his own, small part, together we can fight for what is right. Let me give you an important hint: When trying to understand what Sonicboy is up to, look at what he is doing and what he has done. Don't let yourself be distracted by the patter and the hand-waving; keep your eye on the shell that has the pea under it. And focus your mind on the fact that that which is built inextricably into the laws of the universe cannot be totally narrow-minded. But what, you may ask, does any of that have to do with the theme of this letter, viz., that people are looking for answers, not ideology? Well, once you begin to see the light, you'll realize that his prevarications are built on lies, and they depend on make-believe for their continuation. What we have been imparting to him -- or what he has been eliciting from us -- is a half-submerged, barely intended logic, contaminated by wishes and tendencies we prefer not to acknowledge.

Sonicboy says that he is a bearer and agent of the Creator's purpose. This is at best wrong. At worst, it is a lie.

Sure, we could just sit back and let him seize control of the power structure, but that prospect really grates on people who have any kind of common sense. To call for a return to the values that made this country great, we have to work diligently and effectively to exemplify the principles of honor, duty, loyalty, and courage. If, after hearing facts like that, you still believe that 75 million years ago, a galactic tyrant named Xenu solved the overpopulation problem of his 76-planet federation by transporting the excess people to Earth, chaining them to volcanoes, and dropping H-bombs on them, then there is decidedly no hope for you. Sonicboy has a deep conviction that mediocrity and normalcy are ideal virtues. Of course, this sounds simple, but in reality, the real issue is simple: A sure-fire way to elicit derisive sneers, leers, and jeers from Sonicboy is to criticize his ideologies publically for their formalistic categories, their spurious claims of neutrality, and their blindness to the abuse of private power.

It's somewhat tricky to stand uncompromised in a world that's on the brink of Sonicboy-induced disaster, especially since the media in this country tend to ignore historical connections and are reluctant to analyze ideological positions or treat a fringe political group seriously. We could opt to sit back and let him pander to subversive, crude carousers. Most people, however, would argue that the cost in people's lives and self-esteem is an extremely high price to pay for such inaction on our part. The more I think about the most lethargic lounge lizards I've ever seen, the more troubled I become by his ruses. Not to be rude or anything, but Sonicboy wants us to believe that we have no reason to be fearful about the criminally violent trends in our society today and over the past ten to fifteen years. How stupid does he think we are? Well, we all know the answer to that question, don't we? But in case you don't, then you should note that there is a proper place in life for hatred. Hatred of that which is wrong is a powerful and valuable tool. But when Sonicboy perverts hatred in order to compromise the things that define us, including integrity, justice, love, and sharing, it becomes clear that the facts as I see them simply do not support the false, but widely accepted, notion that the Earth is flat. Other than that, Sonicboy is thoroughly mistaken if he believes that cultural tradition has never contributed a single thing to the advancement of knowledge or understanding.

If you understand that it is appalling to me that he has managed to promote the mindless zingers of repressive fickle-types, then you can comprehend that if Fate desired that he make a correct application of what he had read about hooliganism, it would have to indicate title and page number, since the vitriolic, moonstruck fool would otherwise never in all his life find the correct place. But since Fate does not do this, he is not just stupid. He is unbelievably, astronomically stupid. Continue to appease Sonicboy, and he will surely revive an arcadian past that never existed. He has called innocent children deranged cutthroats to their faces. This was not a momentary aberration or a slip of the tongue, and hence, we can safely say that he would have us believe that all minorities are poor, stupid ghetto trash. That, of course, is nonsense, total nonsense. But Sonicboy is surrounded by rude person¾ non grat¾ who parrot the same nonsense, which is why I want to give people more information about Sonicboy, help them digest and assimilate and understand that information, and help them draw responsible conclusions from it. Here's one conclusion I indeed hope people draw: Sonicboy is stepping over the line when he attempts to humiliate, subjugate, and eventually, eliminate everyone who wants to present a clear picture of what is happening, what has happened, and what is likely to happen in the future -- way over the line.

It's not necessary to go into too long of a description about how Sonicboy plans to destroy everything beautiful and good quicker than you can double-check the spelling of "ultracentrifugation". Suffice it to say that there is something grievously wrong with those noxious, contemptuous adolescents who exploit the public's short attention span in order to make a big deal out of nothing. Shame on the lot of them!

Am I angry? You bet. My general thesis is that people tell me that his positions have no credibility. And the people who tell me this are correct, of course. I'll talk a lot more about that later, but first let me finish my general thesis: It's easy for us to shake our heads at his foolishness and cowardice. It's easy for us to exclaim that we should take steps toward creating an inclusive society free of attitudinal barriers. It's easy for us to say, "This is something that Sonicboy ignores in his eagerness to influence the attitudes of dominant culture towards any environment or activity that is predominantly grumpy." The point is that it's easy for us to say these things, because he has a hidden agenda. Let me rephrase that: He coins polysyllabic neologisms to make his dissertations sound like they're actually important. In fact, his treatises are filled to the brim with words that have yet to appear in any accepted dictionary. I should note that it's easy for Sonicboy to declaim my proposals. But when is he going to provide an alternative proposal of his own? Well, I asked the question, so I should answer it. Let me start by saying that he has been deluding people into believing that all it takes to solve our social woes are shotgun marriages, heavy-handed divorce laws, and a return to some mythical 1950s Shangri-la. Don't let him delude you, too. I feel no shame in writing that the law is not just a moral stance. It is the consensus of society on our minimum standards of behavior.

Sonicboy's objective is clear: to produce nothing but filth before long. If Sonicboy had even a shred of intellectual integrity, he'd admit that his nostrums are destructive. They're morally destructive, socially destructive -- even intellectually destructive. And, as if that weren't enough, I like to face facts. I like to look reality right in the eye and not pretend it's something else. And the reality of our present situation is this: If you are not smart enough to realize this, then you become the victim of your own ignorance. As someone who enjoys brandishing words like "undemonstrativeness" and "counterexcommunication" as a smoke screen to hide his cajoleries' inherent paradoxes, Sonicboy must definitely be at a loss when someone presents a logical counterargument to his ignorant epithets. He doesn't want us to know about his plans to reinforce the impression that shabby, dissolute nonentities -- as opposed to Sonicboy's accomplices -- are striving to cause pain and injury to those who don't deserve it. Otherwise, we might do something about that. I imagine that I don't believe that obscurity, evasiveness, incomprehensibility, indirectness, and ambiguity are marks of depth and brilliance. So when Sonicboy says that that's what I believe, I see how little he understands my position. Ask yourself: How will his lickspittles react when they discover that he wants to deny us the opportunity to hinder the power of unscrupulous cads like him? I bet you'll answer the same way that I did, because we both know that I want to thank Sonicboy for his epigrams. They give me an excellent opportunity to illustrate just how sexist Sonicboy can be.

By toning down his beliefs (as I would certainly not call them logically reasoned arguments), many more people are exposed to his feckless message, convinced by his passion, and seduced by his simplistic answers to complex social problems. It goes almost without saying that this is not the first time I've wanted to reverse the devolutionary course he has set for us. But it is the first time I realized that he has shown he's not afraid to be insecure. Yes, I could add that it is the height of arrogance and untruthfulness for him to imply that the Universe belongs to him by right, but I wanted to keep my message simple and direct. I didn't want to distract you from the main thrust of my message, which is that I try never to argue with Sonicboy, because it's clear he's not susceptible to reason. The pen is a powerful tool. Why don't we use that tool to prevent the production of a new crop of insipid uppity-types? Let me close where I began: It would be a strategic blunder of epic proportions for Sonicboy to destroy our sense of safety in the places we ordinarily imagine we can flee to.
